The nearest vaccine site is Nanna, 1,085 kilometres from the city of Nome, and it would normally take 25 days for a dog sled, but it took only five and a half days to successfully complete the relay and save the lives of many children.　　Togo, the protagonist of the film, is one of the lead dogs used by Norwegian sledder Leonhard Seppala (Willem Dafoe), who is praised for his wit, leadership and sharp instincts. Seppala was tasked with delivering the most dangerous leg of the relay, receiving the serum from Nome to Nurato, and successfully completed the mission in a strong wind of -30 degrees Celsius and above 7.
