Focusing on the 1925 episode of sled riders and sled dogs working together to save the lives of children in Nome, Alaska, on the Serum Relay Road, known as the "Great Race of Mercy." At the end of 1924, a 2-year-old child in Nome fell ill and was diagnosed with tonsillitis, a disease that is not usually life-threatening, but this child became an exception, and many children were diagnosed with tonsillitis, and several unfortunately died, and the doctor finally confirmed that the condition was diphtheria. At that time, there was a vaccine that could be used to deal with diphtheria, and then all the vaccines in Nome City expired, and the new vaccine was not delivered before the port closed, and the Baltic Sea would be thawed in June of the following year, and there were no direct roads to Nome, no planes, and the only way to transport goods was the mail road, but only sled dogs could pass through it in winter. The Health Department decided to use two sets of sled dog relay transport, with 20 sled riders and 150 sled dogs having to travel day and night, across rivers, across plains, through forests, and across the frozen Alaska Post Road. The nearest vaccine site is Nanna, 1,085 kilometres from the city of Nome, and it would normally take 25 days for a dog sled, but it took only five and a half days to successfully complete the relay and save the lives of many children. Togo, the protagonist of the film, is one of the lead dogs used by Norwegian sledder Leonhard Seppala (Willem Dafoe), who is praised for his wit, leadership and sharp instincts. Seppala was tasked with delivering the most dangerous leg of the relay, receiving the serum from Nome to Nurato, and successfully completed the mission in a strong wind of -30 degrees Celsius and above 7. Antarctic explorer Roald Amundsen then presented Togo with a gold medal. Björn plays a relay crew who betrays Seppala on the way.
