The "Gilded Age" was a period of great economic change, a period of great wealth was created and lost, and a period of fierce competition between famous upstarts. The second season begins early in the morning of Easter in 1883, when Bertha Russell learns that her bid for a box at the New York Opera House has been rejected. Bertha will challenge Mrs. Astor and the old system, and she will not only strive to gain a foothold in high society, but also possibly lead in it. George Russell also had his own battles, and he had to face his growing union in Pittsburgh's steel mills. On the Brook side, Marian secretly teaches at an all-girls school and continues her journey to find her own path, and to everyone's surprise, Ada starts a new relationship. Of course, Agnes didn't care about it. In Brooklyn, the Scott family slowly recovers from a shocking discovery, and Peggy exerts her activist spirit through her collaboration with T. Thomas Fortune at The New York Globe
